Dr. Jeanie Austin is a librarian with San Francisco Public Library's Jail and Reentry Services program. Their research interests and activities include the provision of library services to people in juvenile detentions, jails, and, prisons and the complex political and social systems that surround this work. They were previouslt the project coordinator for Mix IT Up!, an IMLS-funded project that recruits traditionally underrepresented students to work with underserved youth in a variety of settings.
Melissa Villa-Nicholas is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the Harrington School of Communication and Media. Dr. Villa-Nicholas holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from the Ischool at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her work focuses on the use and users of information of underrepresented communities, the information and technology histories and practices of Latinxs, and intersectional approaches to information behavior. Dr. Villa-Nicholas’ teaching interests span from the use and users of information, information behavior, the history of libraries, and multiculturalism in libraries and information institutes.
