Susan Tavernier, PhD, RN, APRN-CNS, AOCN is Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at Idaho State University. She has over 30 years of oncology nursing experience with most as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Susan received her degrees from Whitworth University, Loyola University of Chicago and the University of Utah. Her post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer, Aging and End-of-Life was through the College of Nursing at the University of Utah working with Dr. Susan Beck.
Funding from the ONS Foundation, NIH and HRSA support her program of translational research on distress management and individualized quality of life. She has presented and published her research and authored textbook chapters on distress. She peer reviews for journals related to nursing, oncology, quality of life and qualitative research. Dr. Tavernier is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society having served on multiple boards and projects. She received awards for mentoring, research and writing.
