Ms. Hampel is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Associate Director of the Division of Human Genetics at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is President of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancer and a Steering Committee member of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. Ms. Hampel received her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Genetics from Ohio State, her Master’s degree in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College, and certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She worked as a Cancer Genetic Counselor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before coming to Ohio State. Ms. Hampel’s research is focused on universal tumor screening of all newly diagnosed colorectal and endometrial cancer patients for Lynch syndrome, and she has published more than 120 papers in the field of cancer genetics. Ms. Hampel was President of the American Board of Genetic Counseling in 2009–2010.
