Somatic Entry Points in the Treatment of Adults with Cptsd and Dissociation

Sunday, March 25
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Wilson

Psychodynamic approaches to psychotherapy are burdened by their origins in verbal discourse and early ignorance of somatic experience as a valid pathway for movement from inarticulate experience to verbal narrative of traumatic events. Through the brief exploration of theory and the use of brief clinical vignettes this presentation explores the integration of three types of techniques into a psychodynamic approach to utilization of somatic entry points into inarticulate experience: Focusing (Gendlin, 1978), EMDR (Shapiro, 1995), and hypnosis (Watkins, 1971).
