This poster will provide an overview of the latest research in the areas of neuroscience of complex trauma and use of yoga in the treatment of trauma. More than 200 studies on the use of the yogic tools in clinical treatment have been accumulated to date. Moreover, a helpful theoretical framework based on neuroscience was offered by Gard et al. in 2014. Presenter will use this framework to explain major principles that practitioners can utilize when selecting/modifying specific practices. Further, the poster will cover a number of brief & simple yogic tools that can be easily utilized in the treatment of complex trauma and added to most treatment approaches. Pictures & instructions for the poses will be included. Next, a number of neuroscience-based recommendations about the ways to integrate yoga into the clinical practice will be discussed. Clinical case will illustrate the use of yoga as a helpful adjunct to the talk-based therapy of complex trauma.
