ETH Zurich / MaxWell Biosystems AG, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland
Dr. Michele Fiscella obtained the MSc in Biotechnology at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2008. After university, Dr. Fiscella joined the Swiss interdisciplinary PhD program at the laboratories of Prof. Dr. Hierlemann at ETH Zurich and Prof. Dr. Roska at Friedrich Miescher Institute (FMI) in Basel (Switzerland). PhD work focused on high-throughput electrophysiology recordings by microelectrode arrays (MEAs) and analysis/modeling of neural signals. After obtaining the PhD, Dr. Fiscella worked with transgenic animals modeling human diseases. In September 2016, Dr. Fiscella co-founded MaxWell Biosystems AG, a Swiss based company commercializing high-resolution MEAs. Dr. Fiscella is currently working as VP Scientific Affairs at MaxWell Biosystems AG. Dr. Fiscella's activities focus on developing novel in vitro electrophysiology assays, using iPSC-derived neurons modeling human diseases.
