Concurrent Session

Concurrent Group IV

The concurrent sessions cover topics from across the spectrum of stem cell research. Each session, framed by a brief topic overview, includes one or two invited speakers whose work highlights leading research in the field. The session is rounded out with four or more abstract-selected speakers who, combined with the invited talks, give an excellent snapshot of the most current work on the topic. The five concurrent sessions run in parallel and attendees are encouraged to move between sessions to hear talks of interest. Concurrent sessions are held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons.

Nissim Benvensity

Prof. Nissim Benvenisty is the Herbert Cohn Chair in Cancer Research and the Director of The Azrieli Center for Stem Cells and Genetic Research at the Hebrew University. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Hebrew University, and conducted postdoctoral studies at Harvard University. Prof. Benvenisty’s research projects focus on stem cell biology, tissue engineering, human genetics, and cancer research.

During her scientific career, Dr. Anne Rios has developed a strong passion for microscopy. During her post-doctoral training in breast cancer, she developed a technique of 3D imaging, which has proven to serve as a powerful tool to dissect the mammary stem cell hierarchy in vivo. Along with her team, she is now implementing novel imaging methodologies based on Large-scale Single-cell Resolution 3D-imaging and 3D-intravital microscopy to investigate the cellular dynamics governing pediatric cancer progression.

As Vice President of High-throughput Biology at insitro, Ajamete Kaykas is responsible for producing high-quality data sets to use in for machine learning-based target and drug discovery. He leads insitro’s wet lab activities which consists of functional genomics, disease modeling, phenotyping, automation, and process engineering. Aj has spent over 28 years in both industry and academia, working in the areas of proteomics, genomics, and stem cell biology. Before joining insitro, Aj led the early target discovery team at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research in the Neuroscience unit. His team efforts have led to the discovery of multiple new disease targets and the development of better predictive preclinical models.
