Steven A. Goldman

Steve Goldman is Professor of Neuroscience and Neurology at both the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Rochester Medical Center. In Copenhagen, he co-directs its Center for Translational Neuromedicine, while at Rochester, he is the URMC Distinguished Professor of Neuroscience and co-directs its Center for Translational Neuromedicine. Goldman obtained his PhD from Rockefeller University and his MD from Cornell, and did his residency in neurology at New York Hospital-Cornell and Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Goldman is interested in cell genesis in the adult brain, with a focus on the use of patient-specific stem and progenitor cells - and in particular their derived glia - in both modeling and treating those myelin disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric conditions in which glial pathology is causally involved.

Qiang Sun

Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, CAS, China

Qiang Sun, is the director of Suzhou Non-human Primate Facility from Institute of Neuroscience, Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, CAS China. Dr Sun specializes in non-human-primate reproductive physiology and transgenic technology. He and colleagues have succeeded in obtaining MeCP2 transgenic monkeys by using lentivirus, and a series of KO monkeys by TALEN and CRISPR-Cas9. His lab is also focusing on shorting the reproduction cycle of monkeys by various approaches.

Joseph C. Wu

Joseph C. Wu, MD, PhD is Director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute and the Simon H. Stertzer Professor of Medicine and Radiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. His lab works on basic, translational, and clinical aspects of cardiovascular stem cell biology. The main goals are to (i) understand disease mechanisms, (ii) accelerate drug discovery, (iii) develop “clinical trial in a dish” concept, and (iv) implement precision medicine for prevention and treatment in cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Wu currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Keystone Symposia (2014-2020), FDA Cellular, Tissue, and Gene Therapies Advisory Committee (2017-2020), AHA National Board of Directors (2017-2019), and Chair of the AHA National Research Committee (2017-2019).

Daniel Feller

Daniel Feller is a Melbourne businessman and father of three to Tess, Alice and Harry. Harry Feller (aged six) has inherited recessive genes from his mother (Hollie) and father and was born with Usher Syndrome type 1F. Daniel and Hollie have set up Genetic Cures Australia as an awareness building and fundraising site which has garnered support worldwide in 18 months. He is determined to see a cure for Harry and a cure for dozens of inherited genetic conditions the world over. Positive and determined, he feels that we are approaching the final mile for ground-breaking research results into genetic cures for so many conditions with treatments increasingly available today that were only thought of less than a decade ago.

ISSCR Innovation Award co-recipient

Michele De Luca, MD, is Full Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine “Stefano Ferrari” at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and co-founder and Scientific Director of Holostem Terapie Avanzate. For many years, his study of stem cells of human stratified epithelia has been aimed at their clinical application in regenerative medicine. He played a pivotal role in epithelial stem cell-mediated cell therapy and ex vivo gene therapy.
