Why We Should be Optimistic About Cyber Security

Working in cyber security is inherently about managing challenges and responding to problems. There is no such thing as 100% security, we will never attain perfection and often the advice we have been giving for years is ignored or impossible to enact. Our jobs are centered on identifying problems, errors, attacks or failures and we are constantly confronted with people causing harm, either acting maliciously or by accident. Within this context, it’s no surprise that cynicism reigns. Leave all of that at the door when you enter this session, in which Dr. Jessica Barker will explore why pessimism is holding us back and the importance of being optimistic about the future of cyber security.
