3012 - Forensics in Action: Looking for Restricted Data Across Your Enterprise

You and your team have spent months preparing for the latest global data privacy regulation. You have surveyed stakeholders, prepared data maps, documented processes, and updated policies. New training courses have been rolled out, and the contracts with your vendors and customers have all been updated. Procedures have been developed and tested, allowing your team to execute on information or deletion requests related to data privacy. But you still have some nagging questions. What data is lurking on our file server? Does our email archive contain un-disclosed personal data? Is our hiring practice really compliant?

This entertaining and informative workshop will introduce the concept and workflows of data-threat hunting. Using forensic and information governance tools and techniques, participants will learn how to search their systems for data which may pose a data privacy or data security compliance risk. Both open source and commercially available tools will be demonstrated as we look for restricted data across a variety of traditional and cloud-based sources.
