3315 - The Costs of Convenience – Measuring Consequences of Cyber Security Policy Conflicts

Wednesday, October 10
1:45 PM - 2:45 PM
Location: Floor 2: Galerie 3

What is the economic value of identifying, measuring and reporting “hidden-risk” factors introduced by executives demanding cyber-security policy exceptions for the personal convenience of their workflow activities? Which proven techniques reasonably measure motives driving end-user demands for policy exceptions? How may one process end-user feedback, to feed-forward facts and figures that best protect and support the business at large? Prepare to cost-justify denial of demands for policy exceptions; or conversely calculate solutions that meet “need-for-change” ultimatums. Quantify, evaluate and effectively communicate the economic liabilities of noncompliance. Avoid denial of insurance claim-payouts when a cyber-insurance policy contains a “failure to follow minimum required practices exclusion.”
