Why Are Inlet Protection BMPs So Difficult To Estimate and Implement Correctly?

Egress Inlet BMPs (differentiated from culvert inlets) are based on specific DOT or consultant standard specifications/provisions along with common detail drawings. Both good and bad examples of inlet BMPs will be discussed that were properly designed and installed based on project type, phase of work, and time of year. The class content (drawn from many experiences) will include an example decision matrix of egress inlet BMPs of standard practice.

Dwayne is a certified professional in erosion and sediment control. He has worked in this capacity for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for more than 21 years and is involved with design, construction and maintenance using old, modified and new technologies to solve difficult soil and storm water quality problems. He has presented extensively over the United States on storm water management techniques, and yearly at the International Erosion Control Association Conference. He has a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota in plant biology and extensive work environmental constructability and commitment delivery for road and bridge projects.
