This will be a course on stormwater permitting and environmental monitoring for construction compliance on a wind farm project. The components and sequence of building a wind farm and the best management practices prescribed to minimize stormwater discharges from each stage of construction will be discussed. Participants will learn how to overcome obstacles related to implementation and maintenance of controls on an expansive project site.

Mr. Daniel Schertz is a Senior Environmental Scientist in the Environmental Services Global Practices at Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. Mr. Schertz specializes in NPDES permitting with a focus on Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development and construction monitoring for a variety of construction projects nationwide. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries & Wildlife Sciences from the University of Missouri, is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), a Certified Stormwater Management Operator in the State of Michigan, and has over 12 years of professional experience in the stormwater industry. He has developed over 100 SWPPPs, coordinated stormwater permitting across 14 different states, and performed onsite SWPPP training and construction compliance monitoring throuhout the Mid-west.
