Land Grant Universities have Extension Agents to provide a wide range of information to citizens in all 50 States. Providing education and training for agents from University specialist helps them better provide information to the citizens in the count(ies) they work. This presentation is explain what we have been doing at the University of Georgia to better prepare our Extension Agents to assist citizens, local governments and utilities in reducing stormwater runoff and protecting water quality.

Gary L. Hawkins

Assistant Professor and Water Resource Specialist
University of Georgia

Gary L. Hawkins is the Water Resource Management and Policy Specialist with the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. Gary has been working with UGA for 16 years in various areas covering pollution prevention, water management and alternative energy. He graduated from Clemson, Auburn and Tennessee with degrees in Agricultural Engineering and works in the Crop and Soils Department at UGA. His current focus is working with water conservation in agricultural systems, stormwater management, onsite waste treatment, but his job responsibilities also covers all aspects of water quality, quantity and conservation.
