As a dry place with a large growing population and economy, and a prosperous agricultural sector, California will always have water problems. This talk reviews the nature of water problems and solutions in California, and how these have changed with time. The talk will then discuss promising future directions and concerns for water in California.

This presentation will look at the long-term prospects for water problems and water management in California. Many of California's water problems are eternal, but change nonetheless over time and history. As a dry place with a large growing population and economy, and a prosperous agricultural sector, California will always have water problems. This presentation reviews the nature of water problems and solutions in California, and how these have changed with time. The presentation will then discuss promising future directions and concerns for water in California.
