ECA's Knight Training Center, opened in March 2010, offers industry-driven training that includes classroom theory, hands-on training, and field experience. Located about 5 miles from the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott, ECA's Knight Training Center is a LEED Gold certified Commercial Interior that features state of the art heating and insulation labs, life-sized mock ups, and a house of pressures lab.

During this full day workshop, participants will tour the training facilities, then get to work constructing downspout planter boxes made from pressure treated lumbers. Participants will also install a leak proof liner.

After the boxes are completed, participants will be transported to the neighborhood block of Philadelphia row homes to complete the project. You’ll add gravel, sand, and top soil to the interior of the box, as well as a plumbing fixture to capture overflow, prior to installing them at the homes. Plants will be indigenous to the area.

Join this workshop to learn more about this process, get to work, and assist low-income residents in this Philadelphia neighborhood.

Lunch and transportation generously donated by ECA!
