2018 HPC National Conference Session
EnergyFIT Philly is an innovative program designed to preserve affordable housing by addressing the home repair and health and safety problems too often found in the homes of the highest users. By utilizing innovative technologies including open cell foam and cool roof coatings, and targeting entire blocks at a time, EnergyFIT is producing twice the savings of standard weatherization programs. The program is also providing extensive health benefits to the occupants. This session will explore these benefits and how to scale this Healthy Homes work to drive down energy consumption and drive down health care costs while driving up quality of life in low income neighborhoods.
Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA)
Steve Luxton is the Executive Director of the Energy Coordinating Agency
Steve has been in the energy efficiency industry for over 20 years. He originally hails from Canada, where rumor has it, cold weather was first created.
He has worked in numerous energy efficiency programs as a program manager, Technical Director and currently as Executive Director at ECA in Philadelphia. He also co-developed a national energy audit software program as well as serving as a National Training Director.
Additionally Steve has co-authored a residential energy efficiency manual, “Empowering Energy Savings Nationwide” and appeared on both CBS Early Show and ABC’s Good Morning America as an “energy expert”, providing information on how homeowners can save energy in their homes.
Steve firmly believes that the energy efficiency is our nation’s largest resource.
