Auditing Multifamily Buildings for Single Family Auditors and Programs

If you and your company want to learn the basic and advanced aspects of auditing multifamily buildings, this all day seminar will increase your knowledge and widen your perspectives. Single family auditors and efficiency programs shy away from multifamily buildings (defined as 5+units) because they are reticent in dealing with the owner and don’t want to learn new “building science”. Multifamily owners, however, are more willing to address efficiency investments because it increases cash flow in the building and stabilizes tenancy; and the science of buildings does not change dramatically, the holes are just bigger. Listen in as two national multifamily experts walk you through the process of auditing buildings and negotiating with owners, and then in the afternoon, perform a walkthrough audit of a local building. This is a two part workshop, and people are required to go to both parts.

Andrew Padian

Andrew Padian is a private Building Science Consultant with 35+ years of experience in the unique sustainability issues of multifamily buildings. His current clients include: private building owners; community development agencies; schools, universities, and other training entities; utilities; environmental organizations; and emerging professionals seeking to get into the field. He has performed detailed energy and financial analysis on thousands of buildings across the country. He has created or helped create many nationally acclaimed programs, training and certification for field practitioners, and has mentored dozens of professionals in the field today. Mr. Padian is a frequent contributor to energy and sustainable publications, and has spoken at numerous conferences across the country. His commitment to the field extends to his extensive volunteer involvement in sustainable non-profit organizations and mentoring.

Brody W. Vance

Multifamily Product Manager

Brody provides subject matter expertise on program design and strategy for all of Franklin Energy’s new and existing multifamily programs. Based in Wisconsin, he served as the multifamily implementation manager from 2005-2016 for Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy multifamily programs. Prior to 2005, Vance worked as an energy advisor working with customers and trade allies. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Certified BPI Building Analyst, Certified Building Operator Certification (BOC) instructor, and has served as a Subject Matter Expert for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
