This panel and interactive session from HPC17 will reconvene with some new participants, additional perspectives and a full roster of emerging opportunities. Panelists will engage in discussions of several topics, including:
• What does the retrofit mean to the utility of the future, and what are the goals- energy savings, brand awareness, customer loyalty?
• How do new and emerging tools and processes help the home performance industry- can smart devices, sensors and data offer improved efficiency and/or labor savings?
• What do new technologies and techniques offer the home performance industry and where do distributed energy resources (DERs) fit into the business model now and in the future?

Courtney Moriarta

Seek More LLC

Leveraging 25 years’ experience in residential energy efficiency and sustainability, applied building science, and energy and environmental policy, Courtney Moriarta provides technical and strategic consulting services to government, utility, and private sector clients. She has managed field crews, authored technical standards, trained thousands of building performance practitioners, designed programs, and successfully led initiatives throughout the Northeast to promote rational public policy, effective program design, and enable home performance business opportunities. Her recent work includes providing technical support and thought leadership for the state of Massachusetts and to the U.S. Department of Energy promoting scalable solutions for realizing greater energy efficiency in home improvement markets regionally and nationally. She founded Seek More LLC in 2018 to freely and independently serve her client base by seeking out strategic solutions that redefine the possible.

Keith M. Canfield

Senior Program Manager

Keith Canfield is Senior Program Manager for CLEAResult, responsible for EE Programs for gas and electric IOUs in Arkansas. Prior to joining CLEAResult in 2016, Canfield was Director, Corporate Sustainability for the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), responsible for development and implementation of the Home Energy Affordability Loan (HEAL), North America’s first employee energy benefit program. Canfield joined the Clinton Foundation’s Climate Initiative after collaborating on an energy efficient rebuilding project in New Orleans which renovated 44 Katrina damaged New Orleans homes in 100 days, cutting energy usage for their low-income residents an average of 48% from pre-Katrina levels. The project received Affordable Housing Built Responsibly recognition in 2009. Canfield earned his BBA in Management from the University of Mississippi and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.

Ely Jacobsohn

Program Manager, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
U.S. Department of Energy

Ely Jacobsohn is focused on transforming the home improvement market. He joined the U.S. Department of Energy in 2009 has been working in the Building Technologies Office developing strategies, programs and policies to encourage consumers to improve the performance of their homes. Currently, he directs the National Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program and looks for collaboration opportunities to scale home performance and all clean energy. Before joining DOE, Ely worked at the Maryland Energy Administration as the Residential Program Manager, and was one of the architects of the EmPOWER Maryland Act which set a statewide energy efficiency savings target.

Frank Rapley

Senior Manager
Tennessee Valley Authority

Frank Rapley has 25 years’ experience in the electric utility industry. He currently leads TVA’s EnergyRight Solutions for the Home group, which is charged with developing and implementing efficiency programs for consumers in association with TVA’s 154 local power company customers. Previously, he led TVA’s energy efficiency program design group and also served as communications manager for TVA’s Customer Resources organization. Prior to coming to TVA, he held positions at NRG Energy, Inc. and Entergy Corporation in communications, customer service, and consumer and small business marketing.
