This exciting session brings three panelists with expertise in delivering high quality nutrition information through telehealth. Our panelists include experts in private practice, public health nutrition, and corporate wellness. They will show nutrition professionals how to add the virtual realm to their daily practice.

Mary Beth Kavanaugh, MS, RDN, LD, FAND

Mary Beth Kavanagh is currently employed as Program Cooridnator of the BSDN Coordinated Program at Keiser University in Lakeland Florida. She was previously employed for 18 years as Senior Instructor and Director of Bachelor's/Master's Education at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. She has served as Delegate from Ohio to the House of Delegates and is currently appointed as a member of the Committee for Lifelong Learning.

Lavin Erin, RD, CNSC

Erin Lavin is clinical dietitian, certified nutrition support clinician, who has worked with the Telemedicine team at UC Davis Medical Center since she began her work there over two years ago. While her time is split between accommodating the TeleNutrition Clinic and also acting as the hospital’s Neuroscience Dietitian. She is very enthusiastic about nutrition outreach to rural communities and providing client-centered nutrition counseling to ensure their success with their given resources. Erin is one of few “Malnutrition Champions” at UCDMC and spearheaded the first diagnosis of malnutrition made through the TeleNutrition Clinic. On the Neuroscience side, Erin has created and taught a “Nutrition and Parkinson’s” class to Parkinson’s Support Groups within Sacramento and Tuolumne counties. She also has helped launched two separate CQI initiatives for the Neurosurigcal ICU including how to determine energy needs for traumatically brain injured patients (which she presented at the 2017 UC Neurotrauma Symposium) as well as the creation of bowel management guidelines.

Lisa Stollman, MA, RDN, CDE, CDN

Lisa Stollman, MA, RDN, CDE, CDN is on the forefront of creating nutrition-related businesses. She is innovative and a trendsetter.Since 1983, she has launched five private practices and several nutrition start-ups. Lisa is the Co-Founder of NutritionWellth where she provides nutrition programs for disease prevention and wellness. She is a Past Chair of The Nutrition Entrepreneurs DPG where in 1994 she developed the first website of the DPGs. Lisa received her B.S. in Foods and Nutrition and M.A. in Clinical Nutrition from NYU. She is the 2015 recipient of The Outstanding Dietitian of The Year Award from the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Lisa is the coauthor of the recently published "Making Nutrition Your Business: Building a Successful Private Practice," Second Edition, from EatRight Press. She is also the author of The Teen Eating Manifesto and The Trim Traveler. She maintains a nutrition practice both virtually and with offices in Manhattan and Huntington, NY.

Margret Apura, MPH, RD, LDN

Margaret has 15 years of experience in weight and chronic disease management in the outpatient setting. She started her career as a research dietitian in the Optimal Weight for Life research group at Boston Children’s hospital. During her time there, she co-designed innovative dietary interventions for NIH-funded randomized controlled weight loss trials in children and adults. In 2011, Margaret became involved in a Patient-Centered Medical Home initiative at UMass Medical Center. Her role there was to help primary care practices become a source for wellness and preventive health in the community. Realizing the important role of telehealth in increasing access to care, Margaret took a position with the telehealth company American Well. She is passionate about delivering high quality virtual care to individuals across the country who otherwise might not have access to nutrition services. Margaret graduated from the University of Rhode with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston. She received her MPH degree from Boston University. She is published in several prestigious nutrition and medical journal and holds a Certificate of Training in Adult and Pediatric Weight Management.
