506. Clean Eating: Clearing up the Confusion

Monday, October 22
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
CE: 1.5

Session Level 2 - Intermediate

“Clean eating” has grown from an emerging trend into a full-blown food fad. Dietitians have likely heard buzz about clean eating on social media or fielded clients’ questions on how to read ingredient lists. As consumers’ most trusted source for advice on which foods to eat or avoid, dietitians are uniquely positioned to help consumers navigate the often confusing waters on clean eating and food ingredients. This session will equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to answer questions about the science, safety and role of several commonly-used ingredients. Presenters will analyze detailed consumer research on food ingredients and clean eating to help attendees better understand the perceptions that drive this trend. The panel will also share communications strategies to help dietitians take a science-based approach to answering clients’ questions or communicating about the topic online.
