426. Supermarket Fresh Departments: Partnering to Promote Healthy Choices

Monday, October 22
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
CE: 1.5

Session Level 2 - Intermediate

The supermarket is continually evolving, with several forces at work to drive store-wide changes. This continuous cycle of evolution offers registered dietitian nutritionists opportunities to connect with supermarkets as they invest in health and wellness initiatives at retail, especially in the fresh departments of the store. Today’s shoppers are seeking fresh foods with beneficial ingredients that help fight disease and promote good health. The food and nutrition expertise provided by RDNs can help supermarkets develop convenient meal options and guide customers with product selection, meal planning and preparation, and personal health issues. This session provides insights for understanding the retail environment and the ways that RDNs can interact and successfully partner with supermarkets to develop health and nutrition programs that meet consumer and client needs.
