Dr. Prakash Balan possesses a diverse educational background and now practices in the field of interventional cardiology. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history, summa cum laude. He also holds a law degree from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
He has serves as Assistant Professor at UT Houston and practices primarily in the areas of coronary artery disease, valvular and structural heart disease, and cardiogenic shock management. In particular, his clinical focus is complex percutaneous coronary interventions, radial artery catheterization, acute myocardial infarction care, hemodynamic support mechanisms, catheter based therapies for valvular/structural heart disease, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), as well as catheter based therapies for pulmonary embolism.
Dr. Balan is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography.
