Dr John Douglas is a Professor of Medicine in the Cardiology Division of the Emory University School of Medicine and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at Emory University . He was a partner of the late Andreas Gruentzig and participated in many of the balloon angioplasty and stent trials that formed the basis of modern percutaneous coronary intervention . His primary interests are in performance of complex coronary intervention and the treatment of drug-refractory obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with the alcohol septal ablation procedure .
