Dr. Karl B. Kern is a Professor and the Gordon A. Ewy, MD Distinquished Endowed Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Sarver Heart Center at the University of Arizona. He is an interventional cardiologist with a long-standing interest in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He is the co-developer of Chest Compression-Only CPR and Cardiocerebral Resuscitation. He has championed the use of early coronary angiography/PCI for all adult survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. He is the PI of the underway PEARL study, " A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial of Early Coronary Angiography Versus No Early Coronary Angiography for Post-Cardiac Arrest Patients Without ECG ST Segment Elevation:.
