Ron Waksman, MD, FACC, Associate Director, Division of Cardiology, MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) and Director of Cardiovascular Research and Advanced Education for the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. With nearly 20 years of experience in leading edge medical technologies, Dr. Waksman is a world-renowned interventional cardiologist and is a highly sought after Principal Investigator for pre-clinical and clinical studies conducted in the United States and abroad. Dr Waksman has performed over 5000 coronary interventions throughout his career.

He earned his medical degree from the Ben Gurion University in Israel and completed residencies in medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology at Hadassah University in Jerusalem, Israel. Subsequently, Dr. Waksman completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology in 1994 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Benjamin Z Galper, MD, MPH is the Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program at the mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. He is is an interventional cardiologist and coordinates the care of structural heart disease patients for the entire Kaiser mid-Atlantic network. Based in Mclean Virginia, Dr. Galper performs TAVR, Watchman, ASD/PFO closure and other structural interventions for all patients in the network. His research interests are related to cost-effective and decision analyses in cardiology. He also is invovled in health policy serviing on the AMPAC Board of Directors, as an ACC Delegate to the AMA House of Delegates, as well as a member of the Virginia State ACC Chapter Council.

Peter J. Fitzgerald, MD, PhD

Dr. Peter Fitzgerald is the Director of the Center for CV Technology at Stanford University. He is an Interventional Cardiologist and has a PhD in Engineering. He Participated in over 175 clinical trials, published over 550 manuscripts/chapters, trained over 150 fellows.

Peter has been principle/founder of 21 medical device companies in the San Francisco and transitioned 14 of these start-ups to large medical device companies. In 2001, Peter was on the founding team of LVP Capital, a venture firm, focused on medical device and biotechnology start-ups in San Francisco. In 2009, he co-founded TriVentures in Israel, which is a venture fund focused on medical technology and digital healthcare.

John S. Rumsfeld, MD PhD

Dr. Rumsfeld is the Chief Innovation Officer for the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Previously, Dr. Rumsfeld served as National Director for Cardiology for the U.S. Veterans Health Administration (2012-2017). Dr. Rumsfeld was also Chief Science Officer and Chair for the ACC's National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) programs from 2005-2016, and served on the ACC’s Board of Trustees from 2011-2017. Dr. Rumsfeld is past-Chair of the American Heart Association’s Quality of Care and Outcomes Research (QCOR) Scientific Council.
Dr. Rumsfeld received his medical degree from the University of Chicago and doctoral degree in Epidemiology from the University of Colorado. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and cardiology fellowship at the University of Colorado. Dr. Rumsfeld has been an attending cardiologist at the Denver VA Medical Center since 1999.

C Michael M. Valentine, MD, FACC

Mike Valentine is an interventional cardiologist at Centra Health in Lynchburg, VA. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was named the outstanding senior, and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his medicine and cardiology training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Valentine has served the College in many roles, including ACC Treasurer and Secretary, chair of the ACC Board of Governors, and governor of the ACC’s Virginia Chapter. He was co-chair of the ACC Advocacy Committee and served on the task force to develop the Cardiac Cath Lab Quality Tool Kit. He chaired the ACC Medical Directors Institute, which promoted collaboration between payers and physicians, and developed the concept of appropriate use. He helped develop and co-chair the College’s annual Cardiovascular Summit, and currently serves as ACC Vice President. Dr. Samady trained in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology at Yale University School of Medicine from 1994 to 1999. He was Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Virginia from 1999-2003 and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School from 2003-2005. He joined the Division of Cardiology at Emory University in 2005. In 2009, he became Professor of Medicine and in 2011, Director of Interventional Cardiology at Emory University and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory of EUH. He has supervised and participated in the training of over 60 interventional cardiology fellows and over 100 general cardiology fellows.

Dr. James K. Min is Director of the Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging at NewYork-
Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College, and Director of Non-Invasive Imaging
at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. He is a Professor of Radiology and Medicine at
Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Min is an expert in cardiovascular imaging and has been studying clinical utility and coronary
artery diseases for over ten years. He is well versed in many facets of clinical cardiology,
coronary artery disease, computational fluid dynamics, cardiovascular imaging and interventions
and 3D printing.

Jaydev P. Desai, PhD

Dr. Jaydev Desai is a Professor and BME Distinguished Faculty Fellow in the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and the Director of the Georgia Center for Medical Robotics. He received his B.Tech from IIT Bombay, India; M.A. in Mathematics, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, from Penn; and completed his Post-Doc at Harvard University. He has over 160 publications, is the founding EiC of the Journal of Medical Robotics Research, and EiC of the Encyclopedia of Medical Robotics. His research interests are primarily in the area of medical robotics and cancer diagnosis at the micro-scale using robotics. He is a Fellow of IEEE, ASME, and AIMBE.
