Laura Anderko, PhD, RN, is a professor at Georgetown University’s School of Nursing & Health Studies, where she holds the Robert and Kathleen Scanlon Endowed Chair in Values Based Health Care. She is director of the CDC/EPA-funded Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment. A scholar and educator in the fields of public health and environmental health, she has studied the health impacts of environmental toxins through epidemiological and community-based methods of inquiry. She has served on a wide range of boards and committees including the following federal advisory committees: EPA’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee, Drinking Water Advisory Committee, and National Environmental Justice Advisory Council. In 2013, Anderko was recognized by the White House as a Champion of Change for her advocacy efforts in climate change and public health.
