Dr. Nikki R. Wooten is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina College of Social Work and chair of the military specialization. She combines over two decades of clinical social work experience with her military background to conduct behavioral health services research on mental health and substance abuse in military and veteran populations. She is principal investigator of Behavioral Health Care in Army Warrior Transition Units (NIDA K01DA037412), which examines behavioral health problems and service utilization in Army Warrior Transition Units. She also co-chairs a HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse Interdisciplinary Workgroup that is a collaboration of university faculty, staff, students, and HIV/AIDS community stakeholders in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
