Gloria A. Sierra graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA, Bachelor in Psychology, in 1994. She currently has an MPH, Master’s in Public Health. She has the experience in planning and developing programs and is a Case Manager with the Retrovirology Department at Texas Children’s Hospital where she has held employment for 20+ years. Her role is to assess individual needs of HIV+ Patients, access applicable programs, and act as a liaison between patients and collaborating service providers. Keep accurate data for the department in a specific database and documentation of patient visit in patient records. Recruit patients for ACTG Studies and acts as a liaison between clients and collaborating service providers. She facilitates workshops, Support Groups, seminars and empowerment activities for women and children with HIV. She has served as an Outreach Specialist – Locate, initiate and transition client care services for HIV+ Individuals. She has provided Prevention Education presentations to individuals, businesses, hospitals, and/or groups in the Houston Area and six of the surrounding Counties. In her previous professional experience, she has supervised both Adolescent and Sexual Abuse Groups. She has performed Crisis Counseling under licensed personnel in: Battered Women and their Partners and Adolescents and their families. She participates as a Member of the Harris County Ryan White Planning Council, the City of Houston LATINO TASK FORCE currently Chair. She is a current member of LULAC, Families for Inclusion in Houston, Texas.
