Gretchen Weiss, MPH, is the Director of HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). NACCHO represents the country’s nearly 3,000 local health departments. Ms. Weiss oversees a diverse portfolio of projects that aims to increase the capacity of local health departments to prevent HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis, increase access to testing, care, and treatment, and reduce health disparities. Ms. Weiss co-leads NACCHO’s internal Opioid Abuse Working Group, and serves on the Convening Group for the Federal AIDS Policy Partnership.
Ms. Weiss has nearly 15 years of experience working in the HIV field. Before joining NACCHO in 2011, she served as the Program Coordinator for the Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative and prior to that as the Enrollment Coordinator for the Massachusetts HIV Drug Assistance Program. She spent a year in northern Tanzania working as a teacher with the Rift Valley Children’s Village.
Ms. Weiss received her BA in Political Science from Colgate University and her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
