Currently, I am stationed in the department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a Multicultural Postdoctoral Fellow. I have worked across various disciplines conducting research regarding HIV, MSM, criminal justice Involved persons, and access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as well as HIV related healthcare. I am a social worker who is a convict criminologist who focuses on the barriers of reintegration with specific attention given to the experiences of Black men who are formerly incarcerated in South living with HIV. I also evaluate facilitators that promote stigma that create barriers to health as well as life outcomes. I believe that collaboration with community partners in a variety of applied research effort’s will help better understand communication, coordination, and assess needs for services for people returning home from incarceration; which can influence the advocacy, and promotion of self-management, system effectiveness, and the further development of interventions that are culturally grounded.
