Session Description
While the vast majority of educational interventions for healthcare professionals are grounded in general adult learning theory, it is critical to acknowledge the learning is something that happens within an individual. And while there is benefit in understanding the impact CE and CPD on the healthcare system, in reality it is the impact on each individual learner that leads to these broader, collective gains. This session will explore the attitudes healthcare professionals have about their lifelong learning, how healthcare professionals identify needs and opportunities to learn, how healthcare professionals evaluate and choose to participate in formal continuing education, and what structure healthcare professionals rely on while learning that ensure these learning experience are effective.
Learning Objectives:
- Upon completing this activity, participants will be able to describe what drives healthcare professionals to seek out learning experiences.
- Upon completing this activity, participants will integrate key elements into their practice that help healthcare professionals identify CE interventions that will meet their needs and preferences.
- Upon completing this activity, participants will integrate critical design/structural elements into their practice that enables healthcare professionals to optimize each learning experience and enable the transition from learning to doing.
