Session Description
Measures incorporating patient preferences and shared decision-making are key to new quality payment programs enacted by CMS in 2017. As health systems and clinics are gearing their practices to align with quality and new payment model demands, documentation and reporting of patient reported outcomes and shared decision-making are challenging and often not standardized in clinical practice. This session will discuss innovative Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and designs that assess how shared decisionmaking and patient engagement practices are measured and collected in real-world practice across health systems. As part of this program, case examples will be shared demonstrating chart abstraction of shared decisionmaking through validated tools guiding directed content analyses.
