WS5 — Pre-Meeting Workshop: Wait, What? I’m being sued over an IV?!

Friday, September 14
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: C160
Presentation CE Credits: 4.8

This hands-on workshop will focus on health-care providers who wish to protect: patients from injury, themselves from the loss of professional status/licensure, and their employers from the devastating effects of malpractice suits. During this casual and interactive seminar, participants will learn the steps in the litigation process, have common legal terms defined, examine the reasons health-care providers are implicated in vascular access malpractice claims and recognize valuable habits to employ in their daily clinical practice to avoid litigation. Actual case related examples will be integrated into the program to illustrate the major points of discussion. Audience participation will be facilitated by engaging in creative learning activities which include authentic case analyses, video examination review, open forum questions and shared personal experiences. In light of the increasing potential for litigation in today’s medicolegal climate, attendees will benefit from this workshop by acknowledging and examining our litigation process and following the suggested recommendations to prevent a medical malpractice claim.
