G3 — A WoCoVA Project: A European Consensus on Indication, Insertion and Management of Peripheral Venous Access Devices

We will present and discuss the European recommendations on peripheral venous access devices, divided in different sections: updated classification of the peripheral access, proper indication according to the current evidence, state of the art of the technique of insertion, management and prevention of complication. These recommendation come from a project which have included experts from Italy, Spain, UK, Ireland, France, The Netherlands, Greece and Belgium. We want to report the results of this consensus to the AVA audience.

Giancarlo Scoppettuolo is an Infectious Disease Consultant working at Catholic University Hospital in Rome. He has a special experience in the field of vascular access, not only about infections. He is a member of CVC/PICC Team of his hospital and every year inserts hundreds of vascular devices. Since many years, he is one of national coordinators of GAVeCeLT, the Italian Group for Long Term Vascular Access, founded by Dr. Mauro Pittiruti.
