Sunday, September 16
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: B140-144
Presentation CE Credits: 1

The PICC insertion procedure can be challenging due to limited sites and small vessels. The definition of "central" PICC tip placement varies among specialties and institutions. This presentation will discuss the PICC insertion process and abnormal tip locations including the azygous vein, left-sided SVC / IVC, arterial PICCs, and PICC tip position in patients with cardiac anomalies. The use of imaging and troubleshooting techniques will be discussed along with insertion –related complications, recognition, and management. Case studies will be reviewed that will include the outcome for each case. The session will also include an interactive audience participation for tip location and case study reviews.
