Dr. Neil Johnson is an Australian trained pediatric interventional radiologist practicing at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital since 1991. As associate director of radiology he led one of the first filmless PACS implementations. He then became medical director of hospital information systems leading the implementation of an early institutional electronic medical information system, nationally recognized by the HIMSS Davies award. Dr. Johnson then became the first medical director of vascular access, working closely with physician and nurse leaders to integrate all PICC placement and maintenance under a single institutional team. He co-led an initiative to reduce injuries from peripheral I/V therapy, which has been widely adopted and is a co-leader in the peripheral IV infiltration and extravasation (PIVIE) collaborative with Solutions for Patient Safety.
When not working, he enjoys time with family including two grandchildren. He enjoys flying his little yellow airplane, playing piano, reading and travel.
