Carol Czajka has been a nurse for 38 years. She is currently a Clinical Expert with the Vascular Access Team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Clinical , education and administrative responsibilities include insertion and care of peripheral and central venous access and establishing evidenced-based policies, procedures and standards for neonatal and pediatric IV therapy. Carol works closely with the NICU and PICU teams by providing vascular access support in their complicated patient population, assisted in the development of intensive care bedside PICC programs, and works along side their quality improvement team to help educate the staff and reduce harm metrics. Carol is an active participant in hospital wide initiatives for the advancement of vascular access needs and harm reduction. She has presented at several local, regional and national conferences, on topics related to vascular access. Carol is certified by the Pediatric Nurses Society and the Association for Vascular Access.
