We have an ever closing window of opportunity to save our patients life. The average time for Intraosseous needle insertion is 9-18 seconds. Is spending unnecessary time on gaining venous access in our patients best interest? Are you competent and comfortable inserting IO's? What are the current recommendations in regards to IO placement. Have you ever said to yourself "If I can't get access, we will have to put in a IO"? Have you ever been in a line placement for hours and its been unsuccessful? The why, when and how is the IO in the best interest of our patients will be discussed in this session.

Bethanie Szydlowski is the Clincal Director of Education at PerSys Medical. She has been a Registered Nurse for the past 20 years. Her background is in education, critical care, emergency medicine, infection prevention and vascular access. In the hospital setting she primarily worked on the Rapid Response Team, Code Blue Team and she was the Captain of the Vascular Access Team at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac Michigan. On the industry side she specialized as a Critical Care Sales Specialist with a focus on vascular access, education and infection prevention.
