Marcia Wise has an extensive background in infusion practice, both in the hospital as well as the alternative site settings. She began her nursing career at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1979 where she worked on the Infusion Therapy Team, famous for being the first IV nursing team in the US to place PICC catheters. Marcia was awarded the Suzanne Levere Herbst Award in 2015. Throughout her career, Marcia has worked to advance nursing practice. As a continuous member of the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) since 1993, and later President in 1997-98, she has become a recognized champion for patient care and the nursing profession.
