Chronic illness can be devastating not simply for the patient, but for their family and loved ones as well. A veteran of over a decade of living with chronic illness, Sarah Palya founded Gus Gear, a Pittsburgh, PA-based medical textile company that makes securement devices and covers for medical implements like central lines, ostomy pouches, and feeding tubes. Sarah is focused on patient safety and quality of life for those with health challenges by allowing patients to their lives to the fullest, using personal experience with the chronic illness of her son Gus as inspiration. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Sarah is passionate about educating consumers, their parents, and clinicians about improving safety and quality of life for patients.
