Topics include payment issues, telemedicine for addiction treatment, use of mobile applications, forensic and correctional telepsychiatry, and how telemental guidelines evolve.

Tania S. Malik, J.D. is an entrepreneur and a lawyer whose focus for the last 23 years has been in healthcare. For the last 16 years, she focused on telemedicine solutions and started health care companies to facilitate online patient-provider interactions for primary care, mental health treatment, and naturopathic and integrated medicine.
In 2007, she started COPE Today, a telemental health company which was acquired by MindCare Solutions Group (www.mindcaresolutions.com) in October 2013 and she currently sits on the Board of Directors, as well as sitting on other Boards.
She is a partner and Investor Relations Chief for Bluedoor (www.bluedoor.us) which accelerates growth for companies to insure commercialization.
She is a graduate of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Georgia State University.

Robert L. Caudill

Dr. Caudill is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Louisville. He is the Residency Training Director with an interest in optimizing the role of technology in post-graduate medical education and psychiatric patient care. He is also the Director of Telemedicine and Information Technology Programs for the department. Dr. Caudill is the current Chair for the Telemental Health Special Interest Group of the American Telemedicine Association and Co-Chair of the Telehealth Task Group of the National Network of Depression Centers. He serves as a member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Committee on Telepsychiatry.
He lectures on topics related to technology, community psychiatry, and psychopharmacology. Along with his faculty appointment, Dr. Caudill serves as a staff psychiatrist with several community mental health agencies in Kentucky and is the Director of Telemedicine for the local Community Mental Health Center, Centerstone of Kentucky.

Edward Kaftarian

Founder/CEO, Orbit Health Telepsychiatry

Edward Kaftarian, MD, is the Statewide Chief of Telepsychiatry for California Correctional Healthcare Services and Founder/CEO of Orbit Health Telepsychiatry. Under Dr. Kaftarian's guidance and leadership, the California prison system has transformed from humble beginnings to become the largest provider of correctional telepsychiatry services in the world. Dr. Kaftarian has an extensive background in health systems management and has held the roles of Chief Psychiatrist, Senior Psychiatrist, and Medical Director for a variety of health care facilities. He has founded multiple clinical programs, including the Crisis Bed Unit and California's Death Row Mental Health Program at San Quentin State prison. Dr. Kaftarian completed his psychiatry training at the world renowned Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine.

Jay H. Shore, M.D., MPH is the Director of Teleemedicine at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Family Medicine and the School of Public Health’s Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health, Anschutz Medical Campus. Additionally he is the Medical Director for the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Chief Medical Officer at AccessCare, an Associate Medical Director the Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) and the rural Native Veteran Domain Lead for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veterans Rural Health Resource Center_Western Region (VRHRC-WR).
His career has focused on the use of technology in mental health currently participating in multiple projects which include ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of programs in Native, rural, and military settings aimed at improving both quality and access to care. He is a fellow and has served in leadership positions for the American Telemedicine Association and the American Psychiatric Association where he is the current chair of the American Psychiatric Assocation’s Telepsychiatry Committee.

Dr. Kim received his BA in Philosophy from Georgetown University and MD, MPH from Tulane University. Dr. Kim continued at Tulane with a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry and General Medicine Fellowship in Health Services Research.

Steven Chan (@StevenChanMD, www.stevenchanMD.com), is UC San Francisco's (UCSF) inaugural Clinical Informatics physician fellow and an actively-practicing physician in psychiatry & behavioral sciences, specializing in mood, anxiety, PTSD, attention, and psychotic disorders. Dr. Chan serves as editorial boardmember for the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) Mental Health. Dr. Chan is co-investigator on R01 grant-funded research in the areas of digital mental health, and applications for cultural psychiatry and underserved minority health. Dr. Chan's ideas, thoughts, and research have been featured in JAMA, Telemedicine and e-Health, JMIR (Journal of Medical Internet Research), Wired, PBS, and NPR Ideastream. Dr. Chan serves as Vice Chair for the Workgroup on Mental Health & Psychiatric Apps at the American Psychiatric Association (APA), a part of the Committee on Mental Health Information Technology, and serves on the Committee of Telepsychiatry. Dr. Chan draws from his extensive medical, business, and informatics training at California’s leading institutes — UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Davis, as well as UCLA, UC San Francisco and Stanford University.

Janelle Wesloh, LADC, MBA, Executive Director of Recovery Management at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has been in the addiction treatment field for over 20 years. Wesloh has held many roles, including youth, intake and continuing care counselor, electronic medical record designer, privacy officer, interim director of two NY-based treatment clinics, and project lead of an outpatient drug and alcohol clinic start up in San Diego. She oversees MORE (My Ongoing Recovery Experience) an online recovery support program; Connection--an intensive recovery support and monitoring program; and the Lodge program and weekend retreats at the Dan Anderson Renewal Center.
Wesloh is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor; she has an undergraduate degree in psychology with an emphasis in chemical dependency counseling, and an MBA from Hamline University.
Wesloh has presented at national addiction treatment conferences on:
• Moving from an acute to a chronic model
• Importance of continuing care planning
• Electronic options for ongoing recovery
• Lessons learned from implementing an online recovery management program

Harish Lingam is a healthcare consultant and product manager who partners with CEOs, executives, and solopreneurs in the digital health space to support innovation and growth. Harish served as interim COO and Head of Business Development at Addicaid, a mobile analytics solution for addiction recovery. Prior to that, he worked as a management consultant at Navigant, where he managed performance improvement projects for regional providers, and with Promontory Financial Group, where he supported regulatory compliance engagements with global banks. As a behavioral health advocate, Harish founded and served as CEO of Laughing Matters, a 501(c)3 that brings comedy to patients in residential care. Harish holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago and completed a Postbaccalaureate in biomedical sciences at Harvard University.
