The ASTRO Young Physician Workshop proposed for 2018 will consist of one 90 minute session that addresses specific topics most relevant to senior residents and young physicians who are less than 10 years into their practice. The topics from past sessions have include educational presentations on physician reimbursement in our field (specifically how do billing codes translate into dollars), maintenance of certification, how to stay up to date once in practice, work/life balance, seeking out mentorship, negotiating contracts and dealing with difficult scenarios encountered as a more junior physician in a practice. We have had an excellent cohort of speakers in years past and the session has continued to grow and be well-received. Given feedback from previous years and previous topics currently available in virtual meeting format we plan to highlight the following topics: challenging scenarios for junior faculty members, developing mentorship to promote research and professional development, managing the work-life balance and understanding workplace learning models to further education. Future endeavors include partnering with mentorship developments and networking sessions.

Learning Objectives:

• The session has been designed to draw on the experience of junior faculty in their current clinical/research positions to develop a deeper understanding of the key issues and best practices of junior members.
• The session encourages junior faculty members and residents to develop the capacity to recognize challenges encountered during the transition to junior faculty and acquire the knowledge and expertise to develop strong clinical and/or research careers.
