This session aims to review the survival, control and toxicity outcomes for patients treated with re-irradiation for recurrent and/or second primary head and neck squamous carcinomas in the IMRT era. Recently published multi-institutional data will be presented which will also shed light on patient selection criteria, prognostic models, choice of technique (IMRT vs. SBRT) as well as future directions in re-irradiation.
Learning Objectives:
- Determine patient selection criteria for re-irradiation based on a validated RPA based prognostic system.
- Describe survival, control and toxicity outcomes for re-irradiation using modern IMRT and SBRT based planning.
- Explain novel approaches in re-irradiation incorporating novel systemic therapeutics as well as brachytherapy.
