T15 - Employee Engagement Approach for the New Work Environment

Tuesday, May 1

Location: WSCC 602 - 604

Level: Intermediate

Division: Quality Management Division

Recent blogs report that companies requiring employees to seek management approval to address variation from established procedures experience disruption. This delay shackles all but the most hard-wired process activities. Loss of employee engagement is often blamed on this outdated command and control management style. Modular kaizen uses the intelligence and humanity of the workforce to make a wide range of decisions that meet outcome measures. Flatter organizations now depend on the awareness and impetus of human beings to see activity patterns and anticipate disruptions either through preventive design or continuous appraisal. Life moves too fast to figure out what commands to give workers to get the job done. Everyone needs to bring hearts and heads to the game. Modular kaizen concentrates on the upfront project and process planning so everyone knows what must be done and is armed with the right tools. This session shares approaches and tools to engage the empowered employee.
