Concurrent Session

T01 - Attacking Material Quality Issues Head-on

Tuesday, May 1
9:15 AM - 10:15 AM
Location: WSCC 618-620

Level: Intermediate

How many times have you received material from your supplier that does not meet your expectations, is not on time, or both? Each instance of nonconforming material adds a burden to our daily workload. A proven process to attack material quality issues head-on is the Supply Improvement Program (SIP). This approach is based on managing four primary pillars of business – quality, technology, logistics, and cost. It uses basic quality tools to identify, prioritize, communicate, and resolve issues within any value chain. SIP specifically helps to root out the issues causing supplier nonconformance and guides the implementation of solutions that sustainably resolve issues so they will not reoccur. As a result, the organizational risks and costs associated with supplier nonconformance and material quality issues are reduced. In this session, attendees will learn how to identify the most significant causes of customer dissatisfaction and how to fix them.
