T20 - How to Create and Use Pivot Tables in Data Analysis

Tuesday, May 1
10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Location: WSCC Ballroom 6B

Level: Intermediate

Why learn about pivot tables? Because they are a truly amazing, powerful, quick, and easy analysis tool. Pivot tables are the fastest way to customize and summarize large sets of data in a spreadsheet without having to use formulas or touch your original data set in any way. They may not be intuitive to use but they are simple to master once you know the basics. You can use them to find holes in your data, look for patterns of behavior, and otherwise do high-level analyses of your data.
This session will help you master the basics of pivot tables in MS Excel, and you will learn how to create a well-formatted and informative pivot table from data setup to final formatting steps. Along the way, you will also learn the basics of how a pivot table functions and what some of the possible uses are in quality, sales, service, and other areas. Attendees will be provided with a link to a downloadable copy of the presentation and the sample data set, and will be encouraged to use that data set as a safe place to practice applying their new knowledge before using it on work projects.
