Workshop

W14 - Expanding Your Value Through Social Responsibility

Wednesday, May 2
8:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Location: WSCC 613-614

Level: Basic

Division: Social Responsibility

Quality professionals are held in high regard. They are smart; adept at myriad problem-solving and performance-improvement tools. They have integrity and courage. They have technical skills and generally have a fact-based, scientific mindset. All of these attributes make quality professionals an important ally as organizations increase focus on sustainability and social responsibility. The very same skills that quality professionals have used for decades to permanently change organizational culture now have a new target: sustainability. With just a little learning and development we can become adept partners and increase our value to our organizations.
In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of the sustainability field. The vocabulary, history of the field, global frameworks, metrics, and indices systems will be addressed. Knowledge of how quality and sustainability can work together to strengthen organizational culture for both endeavors will be covered. Participants will leave with a preparation plan to become a Certified Sustainability Associate through the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.
