AF01 - Cartoons in Quality: Using Graphics to Enhance Your Work

Monday, April 30
5:30 PM - 6:45 PM
Location: WSCC 618-620

Level: Basic

Division: Education Division

Cartoons, caricatures, and other graphics have been used to capture such things as strategic visions and add a unique flair to documentation. But they have recently been used to illustrate process maps in a creative way. Converting rectangles and diamonds to cartoons improves participant engagement, increases discussion, and brings forth issues that might otherwise have been lost. See examples of cartoons used in process maps, strategic vision statements, and more. Hear about the strengths, and weaknesses, of using cartoons. Learn how you can leverage graphics yourself with little, or no, artistic talent.

Craig Plain, PhD, has over 20 years’ experience in process improvement and training. He’s also an author, award winning speaker, and an amateur cartoonist. Craig has been involved in training development and delivery at several Fortune 100 companies, the military, and universities. Craig has presented conferences for International Society for Process Improvement (ISPI), Academy of Human Research Development (AHRD), and American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).
