What is Industry 4.0, why is it significant, and where do you fit in? Using stories, this presentation will help you connect the dots between these new technologies, and understand why quality professionals will be essential in this industrial transformation. Questions to be answered include: Why is big data so potentially valuable? Why has cybersecurity become increasingly relevant since 2010? How do advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning work, and why will they transform quality? What is deep learning and why is it special? How do all these new technologies fit together, and why is quality even more essential now than ever before?

Nicole Radziwill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) and Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). She has a Ph.D. in Quality Systems, and her research uses data science to explore quality and innovation in cyber-human production systems.
